What information should a jeweller's gold invoice include?

Direct answer
A useful invoice identifies the seller and item, stated purity, metal and stone weights, pricing basis, extra charges and amount paid.
Ask for separate descriptions of stones or other materials and attach any report number to the correct piece. Record delivery, exchange and return terms, including what happens to making charges. Keep an identifiable photograph with the receipt. An invoice supports traceability, but a seller's description is not itself an independent laboratory result or a guarantee of a later buyback price.
