Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Weddme ("Company", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, protects, and discloses your personal information when you use the Weddme mobile application, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By creating an account and using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described herein.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms and Conditions. Any capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meanings given to them in the Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Policy on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information when you register for and use the Platform:

  • Profile views (who viewed your profile and profiles you viewed)
  • Interest expressions (sent and received)
  • Match history and match status
  • Chat messages and communication history between matched users
  • Feature usage patterns and in-app activity
  • Search queries and filter preferences
  • Notification interaction history

2.4 Payment and Transaction Data

  • Subscription plan and status
  • Payment history and transaction records
  • Wallet balance and referral credit history
  • Payment method information (processed and stored by third-party payment providers, not stored directly by Weddme)

2.5 Device and Technical Data

  • Device type, model, and operating system
  • Device identifiers and push notification tokens
  • IP address
  • App version
  • Language and locale preferences
  • Timezone
  • Network information

2.6 Support and Communication Data

  • Support tickets and correspondence
  • Feedback and suggestions
  • Reports filed against other users
  • Any other communications with our support team

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

3.1 Platform Operation and Matchmaking

  • To create and maintain your account and profile
  • To display your profile to other registered users for matchmaking purposes
  • To generate and deliver match recommendations based on your preferences and profile data
  • To facilitate communication between matched users
  • To process interest expressions and manage match interactions

3.2 Subscriptions and Payments

  • To process subscription purchases and renewals
  • To manage your wallet balance and referral credits
  • To provide transaction history and payment receipts
  • To prevent payment fraud and unauthorized transactions

3.3 Notifications and Communications

  • To send push notifications about matches, interests, messages, and profile activity
  • To send email notifications about account activity and security
  • To deliver system announcements and platform updates
  • To send promotional communications about new features and offers (with opt-out option)

3.4 Platform Improvement

  • To analyze usage patterns and improve Platform features
  • To identify and fix bugs, errors, and performance issues
  • To develop new features and services
  • To conduct research and analytics to improve the user experience

3.5 Safety and Security

  • To verify account authenticity
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security threats
  • To enforce our Terms and Conditions
  • To investigate and resolve user reports and complaints
  • To protect the rights, property, and safety of Weddme, our users, and the public

3.6 Legal Compliance

  • To respond to lawful requests from government authorities and law enforcement
  • To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

WEDDME DOES NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES. We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal data to any third party for their marketing or commercial purposes.

We may share your personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

4.1 With Other Users

Your profile information (name, age, gender, location, education, profession, religion, marital status, about me, and other profile details) is shared with other registered users of the Platform for matchmaking purposes. This is the core function of the Platform. Contact information may be shared based on your privacy settings.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, including:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers (for data storage and processing)
  • Push notification services (Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivering notifications to your device)
  • Email service providers (for sending transactional and notification emails)
  • Payment processors (for processing subscription payments)
  • Analytics providers (for understanding Platform usage and performance)
  • Content delivery networks (for delivering app content and media files)
  • Object storage services (for storing profile photos and media)

These service providers are contractually obligated to use your data only for the purposes of providing services to Weddme and are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data.

4.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to:

  • Protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of Weddme, our users, or the public

4.4 Business Transfers

5. Profile Visibility and User Privacy Settings

5.1 Public Profile Information

When you create a profile on Weddme, the following information is visible to all registered users by default:

  • Name, age, and gender
  • Location (country, state, city)
  • Education level and profession
  • Religion, sect, community, and caste/tribe
  • Marital status
  • About me description
  • Employment type
  • Partner preferences

This public visibility is essential to the matchmaking function of the Platform. By creating a profile, you consent to this information being visible to other users.

5.2 Configurable Privacy Settings

You may control the visibility of certain information through the Platform's privacy settings:

  • Profile Photos: You may set your photos to "private" so that they are not visible to all users. However, you may choose to share them with specific users.
  • Contact Information: You may control the visibility of your phone number and email address.

5.3 Limitations of Privacy Settings

While we provide privacy controls, you acknowledge that:

  • Once information is viewed by another user, we cannot control how that user may use, store, or share your information.
  • Screenshots, recordings, or other means of capturing displayed content are beyond our control.
  • Users who have been granted access to your private information may share it with others.
  • No security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute privacy of your information.

6. Data Storage and Security

6.1 Data Storage

Your personal information is stored on secure servers operated by third-party cloud service providers. Data may be stored and processed in various locations globally, depending on our service providers' infrastructure.

6.2 Security Measures

7. Data Retention

7.1 Active Accounts

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active and as necessary to provide you with the Platform's services.

7.2 Account Deletion

When you delete your account:

  • Your profile will be deactivated and no longer visible to other users
  • Your personal data will be scheduled for deletion from our active systems

  • Backup copies may persist for a limited period as part of our standard backup procedures

We may deactivate or delete accounts that have been inactive for an extended period, with prior notice to the registered email address where possible.

8.3 Right to Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and personal information through the account deletion feature in the Platform or by contacting our support team. Please note that certain data may be retained as described in Section 7 (Data Retention).

8.4 Right to Restrict Processing

You may request that we restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, such as when you contest the accuracy of the data.

8.5 Right to Data Portability

Where technically feasible, you may request a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

8.6 Right to Object

8.7 Right to Withdraw Consent

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for use by individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 years of age.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take immediate steps to delete such information from our systems.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately through our support channels so that we can take appropriate action.

10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Weddme mobile application and website may use the following technologies:

10.1 Device Identifiers

We may collect device identifiers for the purposes of push notification delivery, analytics, and fraud prevention.

10.2 Local Storage

The app uses local storage on your device to store preferences, authentication tokens, and cached data to improve performance and user experience.

10.3 Analytics

We may use analytics tools to collect information about how you use the Platform. This data is used solely to improve the Platform and understand user behavior. Analytics data is typically aggregated and does not identify individual users.

10.4 Push Notification Tokens

When you enable push notifications, we collect and store your device's push notification token (in encrypted form) to deliver notifications to your device. You may disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

11. International Data Transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the country in which you reside. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.

The Platform may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, applications, or services that are not owned or controlled by Weddme. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Weddme Platform.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of any third-party websites, applications, or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through or in connection with the Platform.

Third-party services that we integrate with include but are not limited to:

  • Apple App Store and Google Play Store (for app distribution and payments)
  • Firebase (for push notifications and analytics)
  • Email service providers (for transactional emails)
  • Cloud storage providers (for media file storage)
  • Payment processing services

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data practices, which are independent of Weddme's Privacy Policy.

13. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will:

  2. Notify affected users without undue delay, where required by applicable law, through the means available to us (email, in-app notification, or other appropriate channels).

However, we cannot guarantee that a data breach will never occur, and we are not liable for any damages, losses, or harm resulting from a data breach, particularly those caused by factors beyond our reasonable control, including vulnerabilities in third-party services, sophisticated cyberattacks, or other unforeseen events.

14. Specific Regional Provisions

14.1 European Economic Area (EEA) Users

If you are located in the EEA, we process your personal data based on the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity: To provide you with the Platform's services
  • Legitimate interests: To improve our services, ensure security, and prevent fraud

YOU SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:

  1. Your profile information will be visible to other registered users of the Platform for matchmaking purposes.
  2. Weddme does not sell your personal information to third parties.
  3. Your data is shared with third-party service providers solely for the purpose of operating the Platform.
  4. You have the right to control certain privacy settings within the Platform.
  5. No data security system is impenetrable, and Weddme cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
  6. The Platform relies on third-party services whose privacy practices are beyond our direct control.
