How should tola and gram measurements be reconciled on a jewellery invoice?

Answer

Direct answer

Ask for weights in both units with the conversion used written on the invoice, then check that the price calculation uses the same basis.

Clarify whether the quoted amount is gross jewellery weight or net metal weight and which purity the rate represents. Do not compare a per-tola quote with a per-gram quote until units, deductions and metal content are aligned. Have the seller explain rounding and weighing in your presence. A unit conversion cannot resolve an undisclosed stone weight or a different purity assumption.
