Why do literacy and education statistics matter when studying marriage age?

Direct answer
Literacy, school attendance, enrollment, attainment, and out-of-school status help explain the educational environment linked to marriage timing. Pakistan survey research consistently finds later female marriage associated with more education, while schooling can also be interrupted by early marriage. PSLM supplies population context by sex, province, district, and urban-rural residence. It does not identify individual motives or matrimonial preferences, but it shows where educational opportunity and exclusion may shape the choices available.
