How common is remarriage after divorce in Pakistan?

Answer

Direct answer

Pakistan does not publish a current national transition rate showing what proportion of divorced people remarry or how long remarriage takes. The census records current marital status: someone divorced and later remarried appears as married, so the 499,017 people recorded as divorced in 2023 exclude remarried divorcees. Cross-sectional counts therefore cannot supply the requested probability. A reliable estimate would require marriage histories that record each union and dissolution, analyzed separately by sex, age, children, residence and time since divorce.
