Why do some Pakistani couples have Nikah months before Rukhsati?

A delayed rukhsati may allow time to finish studies, secure housing, complete immigration steps, save for celebrations or coordinate relatives living abroad. It can also formalize a relationship while families prepare for co-residence. The arrangement is workable when expectations are explicit. Because nikah already creates a marriage, the couple should clarify registration, communication, financial support, visits, dower and what happens if the planned date changes. Treating the interval as neither fully married nor merely engaged can produce avoidable legal and emotional conflict.
