What should a seller disclose about treated gemstones in a wedding set?

Direct answer
Ask the seller to disclose known treatments, their effect on care and whether the report identifies any treatment limitations.
Heating, dyeing, coating or filling can have different implications for different stones. Keep the description with the invoice and ask whether routine cleaning, heat or repair could affect the particular gem. A treated stone is not automatically an imitation, but undisclosed treatment can change what the buyer believes they are purchasing. Do not infer untreated status from colour, a high price or a general authenticity claim.
