How can a buyer identify whether a polki-style set contains actual uncut diamonds?
Last reviewed:
Direct answer
Ask for the stone material to be identified explicitly; polki-style describes an appearance and does not prove the set contains diamonds.
Traditional polki jewellery may use uncut diamonds, but a similar design can use glass or other substitutes. Request written disclosure, relevant stone weights and an independent report when the value justifies it. Verify what any report covers. A style name, attractive photograph or gold-coloured setting cannot establish natural origin, diamond content or the value of the complete piece.
