Wedding Gifts

How can a couple decline a gift that comes with controlling conditions?

Answer

Direct answer

Decline the gift clearly if its conditions undermine the recipient's free choice or create an obligation they do not accept.

Thank the giver without agreeing to the disputed condition, and explain the boundary privately where safe. Avoid using or disposing of the item while a return or ownership question remains unresolved. Seek trusted support or qualified advice if pressure becomes threatening. Calling something a generous wedding present does not make every attached demand reasonable or turn silence into genuine agreement.
