How important is physical appearance in matrimonial partner selection according to research?

Physical attraction appears in Pakistani mate-preference studies, but its measured importance changes with the sample, question wording and whether respondents rank ideals or make real decisions. A limited private-university study included physical attractiveness among valued traits; it does not establish a national ranking or prove that appearance overrides religion, character, education or family considerations. Appearance can also be filtered through gendered and social expectations. The defensible conclusion is that attraction matters for some people, while its average weight across Pakistan remains unmeasured by a representative survey.
