How important is personality when choosing a marriage partner?

Direct answer
Personality-related qualities such as faithfulness, kindness, emotional steadiness, communication and shared values repeatedly appear in Pakistani studies of spouse preferences. They are measured under different labels, however, and no national survey supplies one percentage for “personality.” Student preferences may also differ from choices made under family, economic and geographic constraints. Research supports examining observable behavior over time rather than relying on self-description: respect during disagreement, honesty, responsibility and treatment of family members provide more meaningful evidence than a generic claim of having a good personality.
