How important is marital status in matrimonial search?

Direct answer
Marital status can affect legal capacity, children, financial responsibilities, family expectations and what someone wants from a later marriage, so it is often more consequential than an ordinary profile preference. The label still needs detail: divorced, widowed, separated and a marriage awaiting legal dissolution are not interchangeable. Pakistan’s Census measures these as population categories, not desirability. A platform should let people state an acceptable status accurately without treating previously married people as lower-ranked or allowing an unverified claim to replace legal documentation.
