How do divorce patterns differ between urban and rural Pakistan?

Direct answer
The 2023 Census national marital-status table provides separate urban and rural counts by age and sex, allowing direct comparison of recorded divorced and separated populations. Urban shares are generally higher, but the gap varies by sex and age and should be calculated using the matching urban or rural population denominator. Census status cannot reveal whether residence caused the difference: access to courts and registration, migration after separation, education, employment and remarriage all affect what is recorded. Raw case counts alone would also overstate larger populations.
