How did average household size differ across provinces in HIES 2024–25?
Last reviewed:
Direct answer
HIES 2024–25 estimated average household size at 5.77 people in Punjab, 5.70 in Sindh, 6.83 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 7.06 in Balochistan, compared with 5.98 nationally. Urban and rural figures also differ within each province. Household size counts people sharing a household; it does not identify whether a newly married couple lives jointly with parents, how relatives are connected or who makes family decisions. Those questions require household relationship and post-marriage evidence, not the average alone.
