This guide shows what families pay in 2026, what changes the price, and how to avoid surprise costs.

What gets covered at each event

EventWhat families usually want coveredTypical coverage time
Mehndi or mayunDances, rasams, colourful decor and candid family momentsThree to four hours
NikkahThe nikkah itself, signatures and close familyOne to two hours
BaratArrival, stage photos, family groups, rukhsatiFour to six hours
WalimaCouple portraits, stage photos and guestsThree to four hours

Ask each photographer how many hours their package covers per event. Coverage time is one of the easiest ways to compare two packages fairly.

What changes the price the most

  • Number of events. Each extra day adds staff time and editing, which is why two and three day packages cost much more.
  • Video. A cinematic film or full event video can double the cost of a photo only package.
  • Team size. A second photographer catches both families at once, but adds to the bill.
  • Drone shots. Usually an add on, and some venues need permission first.
  • Albums and prints. Printed albums, frames and extra copies are often charged separately.
  • Season and date. Winter wedding season and weekends book up first, and prices can rise.
  • Delivery time. Faster delivery of edited photos or a same day highlight may cost extra.

Photos or video: how to split the budget

Many families spend most of their photography budget on the barat, because it has the rukhsati and the biggest family gathering. A common plan is full photo coverage for every event, a cinematic video only for the barat, and a short highlight for the mehndi. If the budget is tight, keep photos for every event and drop the video for the smaller ones. Photos are easier to share with relatives, and they print well in an album.

When to expect your photos

Editing takes time, especially in wedding season. Ask for a written delivery date for each item: a few preview photos, the full edited set, the highlight video and the album. Agreeing on dates up front avoids the most common complaint families have about wedding photographers, which is waiting months for their pictures.

Comparing two packages: a simple example

Say one photographer offers a lower price for "full barat coverage", and another asks for more. Before choosing the cheaper one, line them up: how many hours each covers, how many people come, how many edited photos you get, whether a highlight video is included, and when everything will be delivered. Often the higher price includes a second photographer and a video, which would cost more to add later. Sometimes the cheaper one is simply the better deal. Either way, you only know once you compare the same things.

Is a cheap photographer worth the risk?

A low price is not always a bad sign. Many talented photographers are new and still building their name. What matters is proof and clarity. Ask a new photographer for one full event they shot, a written list of what you get, and a clear delivery date. If they can give you all three, a lower price can be a smart choice. If they avoid these questions, it is safer to pay a little more for someone with a track record.

Ask about backups

Memory cards can fail. Ask whether the photographer shoots with two cards at once or copies files the same night. It is a small question, but the answer tells you how seriously they take your one wedding day.

How to save without losing quality

  • Book a strong photographer for the barat and a smaller package for the other events.
  • Choose digital delivery first and order an album later, once you have picked your favourite photos.
  • Book early. Popular photographers fill wedding season months ahead.
  • Ask for a package that matches your guest count and venue size, not the biggest one on offer.

Before you pay the advance

Ask for the final price, the events covered, the number of photographers, delivery dates and the cancellation rules in writing. Questions

Helpful answers from this guide

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Pakistan?

It depends on the number of events, video and team size. A single event with digital photos is the most affordable, while mehndi, barat and walima packages with video cost several times more. The price table in this guide is built from packages published on Weddme.

Is video included in wedding photography packages?

Sometimes. Basic packages are usually photos only. Standard and premium packages often add a highlight or full video, which raises the price.

How can we lower the cost of wedding photography?

Book a full package for the main event and a smaller one for the others, choose digital delivery first, and book early in the season.
