When should a specialist cleaner assess a wedding outfit instead of treating a stain at home?

Direct answer
Seek specialist assessment when a stain affects delicate, valuable or mixed-material clothing, or when the care instructions are uncertain.
Tell the cleaner what caused the mark and what, if anything, has already been applied. Do not rub, soak or experiment with household mixtures while waiting for advice. Embellishments, dyes and adhesives may react differently from the main cloth. A cleaner should explain likely risks and limits before treatment; no method can promise complete removal without affecting every wedding textile.
