What should be checked when choosing an opaque lining for a bridal dress?

Direct answer
Choose a lining that provides the desired coverage without spoiling the outer fabric's drape, stretch or comfort.
Hold the actual fabric and lining together in daylight and under indoor lighting, then check them against the intended underlayers. Ask whether seams, embroidery backing or changes in colour remain visible. Test a seated position as well as standing. A lining's fibre, weight and care needs should work with the main garment; simply adding more layers can make an outfit heavier without solving every coverage problem.
