Does educational similarity predict marital satisfaction?

Educational similarity may make conversation, social networks or career expectations easier in some couples, but it is not a reliable guarantee of satisfaction. Education also stands in for age at marriage, income, occupation and family background, which makes simple comparisons difficult. Pakistani national surveys describe education and marriage patterns but do not measure whether similarly educated spouses are happier. The practical question is whether educational differences create unresolved expectations about respect, work, money or status; the qualification gap itself is less informative than how the couple interprets it.
