What happens if a wedding venue offers a different room after taking a deposit?

Answer

Direct answer

Compare the proposed room with the confirmed booking and ask the venue for a written explanation and available options before agreeing.

Check capacity, access, timing, facilities and price, not just whether the replacement looks attractive. Record whether the change affects other suppliers or guests. Do not treat silence or a last-minute tour as clear acceptance of different terms. The appropriate remedy depends on the contract, facts and applicable law; a deposit does not give either side unlimited authority to alter the booking.
