What should be planned for children who are part of a wedding procession?

Direct answer
Give each participating child an appropriate adult supervisor and a simple alternative if they do not want or cannot complete the role.
Rehearse the route briefly, check clothing and footwear, and keep children away from vehicles, cables and special effects. Agree where they go immediately after the procession rather than leaving supervision unclear. Participation should suit the child's age and comfort. A missed cue is not a reason to shame or physically pressure a child in front of wedding guests.
