What is the difference between Nikah registration and NADRA marital-status records?
Last reviewed:
Direct answer
Nikah registration creates the local government record of the marriage and certified marriage certificate. NADRA’s identity and family databases may later reflect marital status, a spouse link or an FRC by marriage, but that update is a separate administrative process. One record should not be assumed to update the other instantly. A NADRA family record can support verification, yet the Union Council register remains the direct source for whether a Muslim marriage was registered. Differences should be corrected with the authority responsible for the inaccurate record.
