Does online verification prove a matrimonial profile is genuine?
Last reviewed:
Direct answer
No. A platform check proves only the specific event it measures. In Weddme’s trust-and-verification report, contact-channel confirmation meant a recorded email or phone confirmation timestamp; it did not prove government identity, background, education, employment, marital history, intention or safety. NIST identity guidance also separates identity proofing from authentication and related assurance concepts. Matrimonial decisions still need proportionate offline checks, family or trusted-contact involvement where appropriate, and caution before sharing documents, money or private addresses.
