Who registers a nikah in Pakistan?

For Muslim marriages, registration is normally handled through a licensed Nikah Registrar and the relevant local authority such as a Union Council or equivalent office.

If a nikah is solemnized by someone other than the registrar, families should still make sure the registration is properly reported and recorded through the relevant authority.

Because local practice can differ, confirm the current process with the Union Council, local government office or official facilitation center.
