What is the difference between a Nikah Nama and a marriage registration certificate?

The Nikah Nama is the marriage contract. A marriage registration certificate is a civil record or certificate issued through the relevant authority after registration.

For official use, travel, immigration, family records or government processes, families may need the registered record or computerized certificate depending on the authority asking for it.

Requirements can vary by location, so check the local Union Council, ICT office, e-Khidmat center or relevant issuing authority.
