“Semi-arranged marriage” is a research and everyday description, not a standardized Pakistani legal category. It usually refers to a family-facilitated introduction followed by direct communication, mutual evaluation and meaningful acceptance by the prospective spouses. Some studies instead use it for an individual choice later approved by families, so percentages are not comparable unless the paper states its definition. The useful distinction is who initiated the match, who screened it, how much the couple communicated and who held the final decision—not the label alone.
