How common is living with the husband's parents after marriage in Pakistan?

Pakistan does not publish a current national statistic specifically for newly married couples living with the husband’s parents. A cross-country analysis of DHS household data found that 41.2% of Pakistani couples in its analytic sample lived with the husband’s mother. That figure applies to the study’s selected couples, not every marriage or all co-residence with fathers, siblings and other relatives. Residence may also change after childbirth, migration or financial change, so a one-time household roster cannot describe the full post-marriage pathway.
