How did urbanization differ among Pakistan’s provinces in Census 2023?

Direct answer
Census 2023 classified 53.97% of Sindh’s population as urban, the highest provincial share. Punjab was 40.71%, Balochistan 30.96% and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 15.01%, while Pakistan overall was 38.88%. These figures depend on official urban boundaries and administrative changes; KP’s comparison with 2017 is affected by the merger of predominantly rural former FATA areas. Urbanization can alter education, mobility and search networks, but the percentages alone do not prove that people choose spouses differently.
