What should a wedding décor contract say about substituted flowers or materials?

Direct answer
Require approval for significant material substitutions and record what alternatives, price changes or remedies are acceptable.
Identify which flowers, colours, quantities or structural items are essential to the agreed brief. Give the supplier a decision contact and deadline rather than leaving them to guess while setting up. Check whether an alternative also affects safety, access or dismantling. A clause allowing seasonal variation should not be read as unlimited permission to replace the whole design without discussion.
