What role can premarital counseling play in marriage preparation?

Direct answer
Premarital counseling can provide a structured setting to discuss communication, conflict, finances, children, intimacy, health, religion, in-laws, work and living arrangements before commitments become harder to renegotiate. It cannot predict whether a marriage will succeed, and evidence from international programs does not transfer automatically to every Pakistani setting. Its practical value lies in identifying incompatible expectations, practicing specific communication skills and deciding whether specialist legal, financial, medical or mental-health advice is needed. Confidentiality, consent and a trained counselor are more important than a generic checklist.
