How many wedding events are commonly held in Pakistani marriages?

There is no official national count of events per Pakistani wedding. Contemporary reporting commonly describes three core celebrations—mehndi, baraat or nikah-related reception, and walima—with dholki, mayun, bridal showers or separate nikah ceremonies sometimes added. Associated Press reporting in 2024 observed that celebrations often involve at least three events, but that is not a representative survey statistic. Event count differs by region, religion, household budget, venue rules and whether nikah, rukhsati and reception happen together. A simple nikah can legally complete a Muslim marriage without multiple celebrations.
