What should parents ask before moving a rishta forward?

Parents should ask questions that protect clarity without turning the conversation into an interrogation.

Useful topics include family expectations, where the couple may live, work or study plans, financial responsibilities, wedding timeline, communication boundaries and how both people feel about the match.

Parents should also give the person represented space to ask their own questions. A family-led process still needs the comfort and consent of the people getting married.
